THE GENETIC SCIENCE - Last November, Harvard scientists reported that they, to their own astonishment, had succeeded in reversing the aging process in mice.
The scientists focused on so-called telomere shortening, which is a process of change in chromosomes that seems to be a major cause of aging. Chromosomes, the DNA carriers in each cell of the body, have telomeres at the end of them. These telomeres get shorter each time a cell divides. In the end the cell stops working and dies.
