PARANORMAL PSYCHOLOGY - JOSEPH AND LOUISA BANKS-RHINE EXPERIMENTS - PARANORMAL PHENOMENA

“Quote from the movie: League of Gentlemen.”
Before we begin this article, we must first understand and appreciate the literal definition of the word ‘paranormal’, which is: (Above or beside our current level of orthodox logical understanding). If we go back to the beginning of the twentieth century, we will find that the word ‘paranormal’ did not even exist. The term was first coined by an American pioneer of psychic research, Joseph Banks Rhine, who, with the help of his wife Louisa Banks Rhine, shook the world with their ground-breaking experiments into Telepathy, Clairvoyance, Precognition and many other controversial psychic phenomena.
The element which made the amazing results of the Rhine experiments stand out from all other ‘claims’ of alleged proof of credible psychic phenomena, was the important fact that many of the experiments could be repeated under strict laboratory conditions and under qualified scientific supervision. In addition, scientific methodology and analysis only added to the validity of the last results.
Joseph and Louisa Banks Rhine were largely responsible for the study of Paranormal Phenomena being taken seriously within the scientific community, and as a result of this the first department of Para-psychology was established within Duke, University, US. Since this time, more departments that are similar have been incorporated into universities in several countries worldwide. Although it still has to be said that many authorities still believe it to be a topic of study too controversial for their curriculum.
If we venture back further than the twentieth century we will see countless instances of so-called paranormal phenomena, where the victim’s, and in some cases, the practitioners were either put to death or persecuted as witches, or even worse labelled devil worshippers. The very same alleged phenomena, which saw the untimely demise of so many innocent victims, are now accepted as part of our everyday life.
In short, once a ‘Paranormal Phenomenon’ is analysed with an open mind, and a willingness to explore all the possibilities, then there is every likelihood of 'paranormal' becoming 'normal'.
In more recent years there have been many more successful experiments carried out in various fields of paranormal study. However, it must be said that the findings and subsequent application of these results has undoubtedly been muted, and sadly, in many cases, they have been denied and covered up by certain influential organisations, none more so intensely, than the scientific and religious communities for obvious reasons.
Consider for a moment what would happen if the existence of paranormal phenomena were publicly confirmed by the above-mentioned organisations: To begin with, the established education system would crumble. Scientists would be forced to admit that orthodox scientific methodology was not only inadequate but also useless in its present teachings. The curriculum in schools, colleges, and universities would have to change and accommodate an entire new field of experts to teach the complete and truthful facts.
A similar and equally consequential state of affairs would prevail should the religious community choose to make public all the known and proven facts.
Some would argue that if this confirmation were to be announced the entire civilised world would be placed under threat of self-destruction. The very existence of the modern world is largely dependent on manipulation of the masses in some shape or form. This is a known fact, without it, anarchy would prevail.
You may consider this article to be written by a bitter conspiracy theorist, to which I would like to offer in my defence, that I am nothing more than an average layman, who, together with millions of like-minded people is looking for truthful answers to centuries old questions. I believe we have the right to be privy to all the facts available, to enable us to form our own opinions and beliefs without pressure or influence from self-appointed authoritative bodies.
To conclude, I would like to highlight the fact that all the above text relates to phenomena governed by psychological attributes and areas of the paranormal such as, ESP, Telepathy, Precognition, etc, where the human mind is the key component.
N.B.: Nowhere in this article, or future articles is it the author’s intention to set out to challenge, question, or discredit any readers faith, belief or opinion. I stand as one enquiring mind in search for answers with the help of others who may have views or beliefs on this controversial matter.
