In 1765, the violin virtuoso and composer Giuseppe Tartini (1692–1770) allegedly told the French astronomer Jérôme Lalande that back in the year of 1713 he dreamed The Devil appeared to him and asked to be his servant. Then he had made a deal with the Devil to whom he gave his violin who then played a solo so beautiful. Tartini suddenly awoke, tried to remember and transcribe what he had heard
