In the National Gallery, London hang a strange painting by Carlo Crivelli (1430-1495) called "The Annunciation with Saint Emidius" (1486). It showed a disk shaped object is shining a pencil beam of light down onto the crown of Mary's head. The word "annunciation" means to announce. When it is used in reference to a saint or a man of God, annunciation means that this special person has been
